Back to School Year Info

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!

OCPS is committed to ensuring every student has a promising and successful future. At this time, the expected first day of school for students will be on August 10 through our LaunchED system to get everyone accustomed to the platform for learning. The official first day of school for Face to Face learning begins on August 21, 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are required by the Commissioner of Education’s Emergency Order to open schools with safety measures in place for students and staff. We are also committed to providing options to parents and teachers.

The options are Face-to-Face (required by the state), Orange County Virtual (a franchise of Florida Virtual which has been available for several years), or OCPS LaunchED@Home (an innovative option that requires state approval).

Our plans remain fluid during these unprecedented times, but the School Board approved sending the innovative model plan to the state on July 17. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review the choices to better understand what might be best for their families. To maximize safety efforts, OCPS strongly encourages selecting the Innovative OCPS LaunchEd@Home model, if you are able to keep your child at home. Student Devices

If your child is withdrawing to attend another OCPS school or another county/state, please set an appointment to return their device to Wedgefield School prior to the completion of the withdrawal process. Please check back for more information regarding device distribution for our incoming sixth graders.  If your child's device needs to be repaired or replaced, please complete the process at your child's 2020-2021 school site. Students can begin the process by creating a ticket at Student Tech Request. The ticket will go to your child's 2020-21 school site.

Student Hot Spots

If your student is in need of a hot spot please have your student use the link on launchpad.

Immunizations

The state of Florida requires that all students entering 7th grade must have the Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (Tdap) immunization. Your child MUST have this immunization in order to start the 7th grade. For more information, visit the Florida Department of Health in Orange County site.
