Guidance Conselors

Welcome to the Wedgefield Counselor page! Here you can find out more about us and our contact information. The mission of our school counseling department, in collaboration with parents/guardians, school staff, and community stakeholders, is to provide a comprehensive, developmental, and accountable school counseling program that enhances all student's academic, college/career, and social/emotional outcomes with the intention of creating both driven and self-confident life-long learners that make positive contributions to the world. School counselors, in accordance with the ASCA National Model, act as leaders and advocates for equity, accessibility, and systemic change as they utilize data that identifies student needs to inform school counseling services provided within each school.
We look forward to getting to know you this school year!

Ms. Kirkpatrick, Elementary Guidance Counselor

My name is Ms. Kirkpatrick (or Ms. K) and I am the school counselor for the K-5 students here at Wedgefield. I am originally from Tampa, FL and moved to Orlando to attend UCF, earning my MA degree in Counselor Education on the School Counseling track. I have a certificate in Play Therapy and I am a proud member of the American School Counseling Association and their Orange County chapter. This is my first year at Wedgefield School and I am looking forward to being a 'Rocket'! I see students in an individual, group, and classroom capacity to deliver Tier 1, 2, and 3 MTSS direct service interventions. I believe it is a big team effort to ensure your child's academic, college/career, and social/emotional goals are met and I am hoping to work together on making this year a 'skyrocketing' success.

Contact Information - If you would like to contact me, I am available via email at [email protected] or phone at (321) 413-2989 ext. 437-2241

WEDGEFIELD SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER:

Ms. Wood, School Social Worker

Hi everyone! I'm Ms. Wood, the school-based social worker here at Wedgefield. I grew up in Tampa, FL before moving to Orlando to complete both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work. Before joining the team at Wedgefield I gained experience working in a variety of settings in the field of social work, including in a hospital, nursing home, and crisis call line center. I have seen what families and students go through outside of the school setting and it has given me a greater understanding of how I can best support them here at school. As a part of my job I provide resources for students and families, help run our food pantry and food drives, and provide counseling and crisis intervention services to our students. I am grateful to get to work with our wonderful school community.
